Abstract
Abstract
In this work, thermally induced diffraction loss and energy transfer upconversion (ETU) are considered for optimization of an ultrashort-pulsed laser amplifier. In this regard, pump spot size and signal to pump mode ratio are optimized in order to maximize the signal output energy. Toward this, the Frantz-Nodvik equation of ultrashort-pulsed laser amplifier with thermal induced diffraction loss and ETU theories were combined. Results show the power of this two-theory combination for optimization tasks of pico-second pulsed amplifiers. Optimized values of

for output energy of 2.3 µj are reported here. This output energy is twice the values reported without parameter optimization.
