Abstract
Intensively aquaculture activities in culturing shrimp (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) often increased contaminants in the water. Our research is conducted to evaluate the phytoremediator performance of wetland plant as Echinodorus amazonicus with 20.75 ± 0.16 g of fresh weight (1.857 ± 0.157 g of dry weight) for removing pollutants of 7 liters of shrimp farming effluent from the first day to the 16th day. There are two treatments in 16 days as following, treatment without plant named Control (n=2) and another treatment with plant named Experiment (n=3). Physical and chemical indicators are temperature, pH, EC, TDS, DO, for daily monitoring during 16 days of experimental set up. Water samples are collected at the first day, 6th day, 11th day and 16th day for analysis of indicators ammonium-nitrogen (NH4+-N), phosphate (PO4
3--P), iron (Fe) and copper (Cu). Results show the growth of Echinodorus amazonicus with 100% survival rate. To be concluded, the use of Echinodorus amazonicus as phytoremediator in this study removed NH4+-N, PO4
3--P, Cu and Fe pollutants at various times under static conditions at laboratory condition.
