Abstract

Abstract The formation of traditional residential spatial layouts is the result of a complex historical process, and Lubok Sukon Village is still able to maintain the authenticity of its residential spatial layout to this day. This is a potential cultural landscape that needs to be studied and identified for conservation purposes. Furthermore, this important historical landscape can also be developed as an incentive for village economic development, for example for tourism-based sustainable development. This research aims to examine the conservation of cultural heritage landscapes in sustainable spatial planning for Lubok Sukon village, Aceh. This research uses qualitative methods with field measurements through interviews, observation and documentation. The analysis uses four cultural landscape variables from Pajouh. The research findings conclude that the combination of architectural heritage, residents’ routines, and the natural setting of Lubok Sukon Village, provides a unique spatial arrangement where all aspects fulfill the characteristics of a cultural heritage landscape in a sustainable manner. This could be developed into an incentive to attract cultural tourists.
