Study of the correlation between road connectivity values towards walkability on Jendral Sudirman Street, Pangkalpinang using the space syntax method

Abstract

Abstract Pedestrian paths are an important aspect of urban planning as a basic human activity in terms of smoothness, safety and comfort. Road network connectivity and integration including those affecting pedestrian volume. In this measurement can be done with the space syntax method. Diagrammatic configuration through the space syntax method effectively characterizes the connectivity and integration of spaces, hinging on three fundamental spatial concepts, one of which is axial space. This study aims to examine the correlation of road connectivity to pedestrian interest (walkability). With the space syntax method, plan analysis and evaluation can be done before the implementation of the design. The area Jendral Sudirman street was chosen as a case study. This research employs quantitative methods within the frameworks of descriptive analysis and simulation. Descriptive analysis here aims to explain the findings of field data and numerical data accurately and systematically. Result shows that the value of connectivity and integration can affect pedestrian interest. With the application of pedestrian facilities on roads with high connectivity and integration values, it will increase walkability.
