Abstract

Youth involvement in the agricultural entrepreneurship sector plays an important role in addressing the unemployed, food security, and environmental challenge. Tactlessly, most of the youth have no intention to engage in the agricultural entrepreneurship sector due to negative perceptions. The main objective of this study was to determine the youth’s intention for agricultural entrepreneurship. The independent variables were attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control while the dependent variable was agricultural entrepreneurship intention. The quantitative research adapted from Theory Planned Behaviour (TPB) has been employed. 200 youth in Malaysia were selected through the purposive sampling technique and complete data were analysed through descriptive analysis. The finding of the study found that the level of youth intention on agricultural entrepreneurship, attitude, and perceived behavioural control is a moderate mean score, while the subjective norm is a high mean score. This study created empirical data useful for the 12th Malaysia Plan and National Food Security policy 2.0 in encouraging agricultural entrepreneurship engagement among youth to boost economic growth besides improving food security and a green environment.
