Production Performance of Aquaculture: Relationship to Business Sustainability in The New Normal Era

Abstract

Abstract Covid-19 has an impact on all sectors including the economy, fisheries, and aquaculture, especially in developed countries. The aim of this research is to evaluate the impact of Covid-19 on aquaculture activity during the pandemic and post-pandemic conditions. This research was conducted in Lampung Province and Java in April-September 2022. The method is a survey with form and interviews to take primer data. The secondary data is from the study of literature. The analysis of data using Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, Threat (SWOT) analysis, Internal-External (IE), and Quantitative Strategic Planning (QSPM) matrix. Data is presented in the form of tables and graphs and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that during the pandemic, the highest impact of Covid-19 is in West Java Province 69% compared to Lampung and East Java Province 33%. The main commodity in Lampung and East Java Province is Pacific white shrimp which was not too affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, in West Java Province the most influencing factor for each commodity the was transportation of both fry and brood-stock. Post-pandemic conditions, almost provinces experienced normal conditions. The strategies for the pandemic conditions are to upgrade information on distribution and marketing, use digital marketing and keep following government shipping procedures. Meanwhile, the strategies for the post-pandemic condition are consistent with the production of fry and brood-stock, the use digital marketing, and create the cold storage for oversupply issues.
