Abstract
Abstract
Scad (Decapterus sp.) is one of the small pelagic resources that play a big role in the fishermen’s economic sector in PPI Pusong, Lhokseumawe. Based on time series data within a period of 5 years (2016-2020) scad production tends to fluctuate every year, while the scad fishing grounds are farther than the previous 5 years, namely 4-20 miles to 80-200 miles. This is one of the indications of the disruption of fish resources. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research on the analysis of sustainable potential (MSY), and the utilization rate of scad landed at the PPI Pusong. This research was conducted in March-April 2022. The data used in this study used primary and secondary data with a sample number of 25 purse seine. Based on the results of data analysis, an MSY value of 1,482 tons/year was obtained, with optimum efforts (Fopt) of 1,930 trips/year and the number of catches allowed (TAC) of 80% MSY of 1,186 tons/year. While the average utilization rate is 70.95%, which is in the optimum level category. However, the precautionary approach to the use of scad must still be controlled in its fishing, so that scad resources remain sustainable.
