Tensile strength test and fracture toughness test of cores with axial hole

Abstract

Abstract This studies approves the the tensile stress tests of rock specimens with axial holes of different diameters under loading along the diameter. The test results are presented for core specimens of rocks and some equivalent materials. The test data are processed using the criterion of fracture gradient and the integral criterion of fracture. The values of tensile strength and fracture toughness obtained using this approach and by the standard technique are compared.
