Response of Structure with Spring Back System Bracing Subjected to Seismic Loads

Abstract

Abstract Earthquakes have been a long-standing natural calamity known to humanity, and researchers throughout history have extensively explored methods to safeguard buildings. The objective has been to mitigate the destructive impact of earthquakes on existing structures. Retrofitting has been deemed necessary for numerous reinforced concrete buildings to address their inadequacies in withstanding seismic forces. Current study presents comparative analysis of building models with V Spring Back System (SBS) bracing and Half Inverted V Spring Back System (SBS) bracing. Among the various techniques, incorporating a Spring Back System bracing has proven highly effective in this regard. The response spectrum analysis method will be used to evaluate the dynamic behavior of the building models. All building models will be evaluated for different Zones condition (3,4 & 5). The sophisticated tool ETABS is used for structural analysis and design. The bracing systems provided at central portion of buildings are proved to be more efficient than the bracing systems provided at peripheral portion of buildings in order to reduce the lateral displacement. The lateral displacement for all storey’s along the Y-Direction are reported more than X-Direction., this is probably due to the higher dimension in X-Direction which obviously exhibits more stiffness.
