Abstract
Sand and dust storms (SDS) are classified as global natural disasters and cause significant environmental and social problems. The article presents a study of a sand and dust storm that occurred on June 9, 2023, in Termez, Surkhandarya region, Uzbekistan. The research employed a multi-faceted approach, utilizing Landsat satellite imagery, and ground truth data collected through EKOLAB equipment. Additionally, a survey was conducted among the residents of the affected area to gather insights into the social impacts of the SDS event, and recommendations were developed by the authors to mitigate its consequences. The study aims to provide a holistic understanding of SDS occurrence in the region and its effects on the local population.
