Abstract
Abstract
The paper describes an effort towards development of electric vehicles in the form of an international collaboration aimed to create an environment that combines laboratory facilities and virtual models into a single research and development system called X-in-the-Loop. The facilities included in that system are connected and shared between developers and researchers working in different geographic locations with different vehicle subsystems allowing them to synchronize their experiments in real time studying the entire vehicle rather than its separate components. The main section of the paper focuses on the part of the X-in-the-Loop project dedicated to the thermal management system (TMS) for high voltage components of the considered electric powertrain. In particular, descriptions are given regarding the control principles and the system architecture used to integrate the TMS into the X-in-the-Loop environment. The virtual part of the TMS is verified by means of simulations. Finally, the design of the thermal management system embedded into the test installation is presented in the form of a CAD model.
