Abstract
Abstract
Being convinced that the fisheries industry produces carbon footprint (CFP), the Center for Fisheries Research carried out research in 2021 to estimate the CFP of longline and lines tuna fisheries based in Palabuhanratu Fishing Port. The port is one of several important bases for tuna longlines and lines fishing fleets operated in the Indonesia FMA 753 (Indian Ocean). The port was selected because of the availability and adequacy of data for estimating the CFP of tuna longline and lines boats. This research aims to estimate the CFP of industrial tuna fisheries represented by both longline fisheries and lines fisheries. The estimate of greenhouse gases was quantified following procedures for the tier II emission factor. The analysis concluded that the average CPF of the two types of tuna fisheries in Palabuhanratu in the last seven years is 603.38 and 508.58 KgCO2eq/Kg of fish, respectively.
