Abstract

Abstract Escherichia coli and coliform are frequently detected in groundwater, and their abundant presence indicates that the groundwater has been contaminated. Several variables, including population density and well construction, contribute to the growth of E. coli and coliforms in groundwater. This is caused by domestic waste as a source of pollution being close to clean water sources (wells). This study aims to map the distribution of E. coli and coliform. The study was conducted at Pasirkoja and Leuwigajah in Greater Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. E. coli and coliform counts from 36 wells were carried out using the Petrifilm method with a 3MTM PetrifilmTM Rapid E. coli/Coliform Count Plate. The distribution of E. coli and coliform is represented by Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS) software. The results showed that the number of E. coli and coliform mostly exceeded the quality standard. The distribution of E. coli and coliform is to the east of Leuwigajah and to the west of Pasirkoja.
