Leading Commodity of Beef Cattle in West Java Province

Abstract

Abstract Determining development priorities for a base commodity will make it easier for local governments to plan and make regional development policies. That is why this research aims to identify priority areas that have comparative and competitive advantages. This research method uses surveys and secondary data. The data used in this research is panel data. Panel data is a combination of time series data and cross-section data. Location selection using purposive sampling. Data analysis uses shift-share analysis and LQ (Location Question) analysis. This research shows that beef cattle have superior areas in 16 sub-districts in Zones I and II (Klassen Typology), while Zone III is a prospective area. Zone I, I, and III development strategy is: 1. Focusing development on cattle base areas, 2. Sustainable availability of feed, both forage and concentrate feed, which has good quantity and quality. 3. Local government policies. 4. Development of livestock farmer groups to increase knowledge and attitudes towards technology. 5. There are supporting institutions that work together, especially marketing institutions. Recommendations require further research on the macro and micro potential of the region.
