Research on dissolved organic matter degradation in biofilm reactor using the micro-bubbles

Abstract

Abstract The performance of biofilm reactor using the micro-bubbles for dissolved organic matter (DOM) degradation was evaluated in this study. Synchronous fluorescence and UV absorption spectroscopy indicates that the small molecule substances was cleavaged in the reactor with ordinary bubbles, the degree of aromaticity increased during the reacting time and the removal efficiency of protein-like materials was ideal. Whereas in the reactor with microbubbles, the humic and protein-like materials both increased during the reaction time, suggesting that the reactor with microbubbles can improve the biochemical treatment of rural domestic sewage.
