Abstract

Abstract The creation of equitable development in all of Indonesia is not only the construction of infrastructure in every corner of the country. The most important thing from government policies that are comprehensive in nature is more emphasized on the equal distribution of people’s welfare. Through the knowledge of qualified citizens, it can improve welfare to make a lifestyle and subsequently create an awareness of self-sufficient and sustainable needs. The problem focused on this research is the low level of knowledge of the people, especially at the RI / PNG border on nutrition and how to make it sufficient by relying on natural products. This research method is a quasi-experimental. Data collection was carried out before and after treatment in the form of three steps of community empowerment, through training, implementation and mentoring. Residents who live in the Border in Sota District, Merauke Regency, Papua are given theoretical material and also practice in processing local food by means of diversification. The results obtained are a change in the increase in knowledge about citizen nutrition, especially those living in the RI / PNG border area by maximizing local food processing. Based on the average analysis of the Gain 0.5 results which are in the medium category. Through diversification of local food can be maximized in processing and meeting the nutritional needs of citizens. Optimal success through this activity can provide a positive aspect for progress in managing fair and prosperous development for all the Indonesian people, especially citizens in the RI / PNG border area in accordance with the five precepts of the Pancasila.
