Abstract
Estimation is made of the sensitivity of water balance in the land surface model INM RAS – MSU to changes in sources of external parameters: reanalysis for precipitation and a land surface map. The model shows a high degree of sensitivity to changes in the reanalysis. On the territory of Russia, all modern global reanalyses overestimate precipitation sums. It is less relevant to ERA5: its error in the monthly sums is close to random. The model shows a low degree of sensitivity to changes in the land cover map. The reason is that there is an excess in the stomatal resistance over the aerodynamic one by several orders of magnitude in most cases.
