Emissivity of the floor surface of the heating zone for weaned piglets

Abstract

Abstract To calculate the comfort thermal environment for the weaned piglets, few factors and parameters should be taken into account. This paper is aimed to the experimental calculation of the emissivity (level of blackness) of the floor surface of the heating zone. The emissivity, through the Fresnel law, is closely related to the dielectric constant of a given medium. This parameter is determined by comparing the capacitance of a flat air condenser and a capacitor of the same size filled with the medium under study. The capacitance of a capacitor is determined during the study of the dependence of the phase angle between the input voltage and current on the active resistance of the circuit containing this capacitor. The resulting relationship is analyzed by the method of least squares. As a result, the average value of the dielectric constant and emissivity were calculated. However, a significant drawback of this method is that the medium under study has a significant heterogeneity. In addition, its parameters may depend on temperature and humidity. Further studies are devoted to establishing these dependencies.
