Abstract
Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cepae causing basal rot is the most important pathogen on garlic in some fields such as in Tawangmangu Karanganyar, Central Java, Indonsesia. Information on the level of pathogen infection in seeds is an important factor that determines the intensity of disease in the field. This information is important in disease control in the field. The sensitivity of detection determines the success in measuring the index of pathogen infection in seeds. This paper reports the results of detection of the F. oxysporum f. sp. cepae based on visual symptoms and seed clove sections to determine the index of pathogen infection by incubation method on agar media. The detection results showed that the symptoms and clove part section determined the infection index of Fasarium in garlic seed bulbs. Pathogen in asymptomatic cloves can still be detected and from basal clove section is higher detected compared to the tip. The four varieties examined, namely Tawangmangu Baru, Lumbu Hijau, Lumbu Kuning, and Jawa Bawang were detected F. oxysporum f. sp. cepae 100.00, 97.22, 89.44, and 85.55% respectively.
