Abstract
Abstract
Piper crocatum is one of the plants used empirically by the Indonesian people as an analgesic. This study aimed to determine the analgesic activity of P. crocatum ethanol extract by acetic acid-induced writhing test in mice. Mice were divided into five groups (n=5), group I was given CMC Na 0.5% as a control group, group II was given mefenamic acid 65mg/KgBW as a standard group, and Groups III, IV, V were given ethanol extract of P. crocatum (EEPC) at a dose of 11 mg/KgBW; 22 mg/KgBW; 44 mg/KgBW. EEPC doses of 11 mg/KgBW, 22 mg/KgBW, and 44 mg/KgBW showed value of % of inhibition writhing respectively 3.84%; 46,15%; 61.53% compared to control (P≤0,05). From this study, EEPC can reduce the total of s writhing mice, which indicates pain.
