Abstract
Purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) is also can be used as medicine such as to help treat hypertension. This study aims to prove the effect of purslane ethanol extract as vasodilator agent on animal model Bufo melanostictus using kymograph. Purslane herb extract was prepared using 50% ethanol as solvent. The concentrations of the extracts were 61.4, 123.2 and 246.4 g/mL, with diltiazem 1 mg/mL used as a comparison. The parameters measured were heart rate and heart contraction. Based on observations, it was known that the administration of the extract at all doses decreased heart rate and heart contractions in animal models when compared to the control group induced by epinephrine (p<0.05), although the effect was not as good as diltiazem.
