Abstract Breed is studied in the article as of significant factors that determine the level of yield and its quality. World experience shows that the consistent increase in the yield of cultivated crops is based on the improvement of the cultivation technology and the achievements of breeding. The production of agricultural products is based on the variety of breeds. According to A.A. Zhuchenko, breed determines the basic requirements for cultivation technologies: productivity, energy efficiency, environmentally friendly quality and environmental protection. It is believed that 25% of the yield is determined by the genetic characteristics of the cultivated breed.
