Diagnostics of the upper-air temperature and wind climate changes based on radiosonde observations and on the fifth-generation reanalysis

Abstract

Abstract RIHMI-WDC carries out monitoring of the components of the climate system, such as temperature and wind speed in the free atmosphere. The basis for monitoring are global radiosonde observations accumulated at RIHMI-WDC. Reanalyses of the latest generation, characterized by high temporal and spatial resolution, are also a source of data for climate monitoring of the free atmosphere. The article presents the results of comparison of time series from different sources, discusses the features of the distribution of the upper-air temperature and wind speed over the northern hemisphere, as well as their trends. A comparison of the results obtained from various sources is discussed.
