Abstract
In this paper, we study the physical effects of deforming the usual Einstein-Hilbert
lagrangian with the Goroff-Sagnotti counterterm (the first which is nonvanishing on shell). Only
spherically symmetric solutions are discussed. The facts that Schwarzschild's spacetime is not a
solution to the corresponding equations of motion and Birkhoff's theorem validity are analyzed and
some consequences worked out.
