Abstract
THE concept of using a cathode ray tube for displaying integrated flight information dates back to the Sperry Flight Ray of 1936, but the idea of projecting such information into the forward head‐up view of the pilot has been developed from a concept proposed by the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough and serious work on the basic project commenced early in the 1950s.
