Abstract
In this scientific and technological age it is most important that greater attention be given, particularly in the primary and secondary schools, to methods of teaching arithmetic, algebra, elementary science and mathematics. Many pupils of average ability (non‐academic) may be thought to be somewhat innumerate when in fact they are only apparently so because the methods of teaching are, to say the least, partially to blame. The continuing scarcity of good teachers of mathematics and physics demands that special attention be given to discovering and adopting methods of teaching these subjects which such teachers as can be recruited for them, can confidently use in educating their pupils. If easier methods can be found — still perfectly sound — why not use them?
