Abstract

PurposeThis paper aims to examine the importance of new employee orientation (NEO) programs, the quality of typical NEOs, and how to improve NEOs.Design/methodology/approachThe paper provides a viewpoint of the importance of new employee orientation programs, the quality of typical NEOs, and how to improve NEOs.FindingsAlthough western organizations are revamping their NEO programs, western culture still seems to foster a mediocre orientation process.Originality/valueProvides a viewpoint of the importance of new employee orientation programs, the quality of typical NEOs, and how to improve NEOs.
