Abstract
Discusses a new manufacturing philosophy, Schedule‐based
Manufacturing and compares it to the widely used Manufacturing Resource
Planning [MRPII]. Looks at the history of the various manufacturing
philosophies and how they have developed. Describes how SBM grew from
interactive real‐time shop floor scheduling and outlines its
benefits.
