Incidence of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at the health post of the Parroquia Tres Cerritos in adults. Period august 2019 – august 2022

Abstract

Background: Diabetes is a major global health problem, with an estimated 537 million adults living with diabetes in 2021, with a projected increase to 783 million by 2045 (1). Aim: To determine the incidence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults at the Tres Cerritos Parish Health Post. Period August 2019 – August 2022. Methods: It is an observational cross-sectional study, with a sample of 46 adults of both sexes, for the collection of sociodemographic information on the population with type 2 diabetes mellitus, the PRAS (HEALTH CARE RECORD PLATFORM) was used. For the statistical analysis, the Epi Info program and Excel were used. Results: Based on the PRAS, it was determined that the patients treated at the Tres Cerritos Health Post diagnosed by the doctor with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, had an incidence of 17 x 1000 Inhabitants, that is, 0.17% over a period of 4 years. in a significant number they belong to the female sex, more frequently they are those who fluctuate between 24 to 54 years of age, 41.30% of the total of the patients investigated presented Diabetes Mellitus type 2 as the only diagnosis, 19.56% Diabetes Mellitus type 2 + Obesity and 10.87% Diabetes Mellitus type 2 + Arterial Hypertension; These last two risk factors being the most important in the evolution of this pathology.
