Abstract
Introduction: Emergency services provide crucial medical care, especially for trauma patients whose lives are at risk. Collaboration and coordination being fundamental. Nursing plays an essential role in prehospital care and in the comprehensive patient care process; however, there is not enough research that addresses this phenomenon from a Nursing perspective.Objective: Systematize the conceptions of professional nursing performance and quality of care in polytraumatized patients in the emergency room.Methods: Integrative review of original articles and review published in databases SciELO, Medigraphic, Índex, Google Académico. The guiding question was developed through the acronym PICo. The search strategy was carried out using the descriptors in Health Sciences (DeCS) “Nursing in emergencies” AND “nursing care” AND “nursing in polytraumatism” AND “polytraumatized in emergencies” AND “quality of care” AND “multitraumatized patient”, the inclusion criteria were: articles in Spanish and English, published from 2018 to 2024, clear methodology, and theoretical reference. The flow diagram (PRISMA) was used, 98 articles were identified and reviewed, of which were useful 11 of the evolution of the category, document content analysis was carried out.Conclusions: The systematization favored the identification of relevant elements in the professional performance category of Nursing in critical care contexts, which places care in a relevant position that favors rapid action.
