Abstract
1. A small-scale experiment in which cows have been fed at three levels for 3 weeks during mid-lactation has been carried out.2. The results show that the changes in milk yield due to changes in the level of feeding were relatively small.3. It has been suggested that where short-term food shortages occur in well-fed herds, economy should take place in the rations of the cows in mid-lactation rather than in the ration of the cows which are soon due to calve.
