Abstract
AbstractThe lifetime prevalence of bipolar affective disorder is between 1 % and 2%. This educational review paper focuses on two areas of interest and relevance to trainees preparing for the membership examination of the Royal College of Psychiatrists: (a) advances in the genetics of bipolar affective disorder; and (b) mood-stabilising medication in bipolar affective disorder.
