Abstract

AbstractThe different stages of Hindola striata Maa in Java and H. fulva Baker on clove (Syzygium) in Sumatra were investigated. Data are presented on the duration of egg and nymphal stages and their positions on the plant. Hymenopterous and Dipterous parasites attacking the eggs and nymphs are described. The natural enemy complex of these clove-dwelling insects is contrasted with that of H. viridicans Stål on Melastoma sp. Some observations on adult behaviour and biology are made, particularly as these relate to the spread of Sumatra disease.
