Abstract
AbstractA simple model for solar flares is described which invokes many ion-acoustic double layers in the source region. The ability of the model to explain some of the observed characteristics of solar flares is discussed, particular attention being paid to the well-observed high-energy flare examined by de Jager et al. (1987).
