Abstract
A bioassay for photosynthetic and respiratory inhibitors was devised. The chlorophyll production ofChlorella pyrenoidosaSorokin, high temperature strain 7-11-05, served as the basis of the bioassay which required 18 to 36 hr to complete. The sensitivity to nine photosynthetic and two respiratory inhibitors ranged from 0.013 to 0.4 ppm. The bioassay was successfully employed to assay leachates from soil columns and to monitor a field residue of 2-chloro-4-(ethylamino)-6-(isopropylamino)-s-triazine (atrazine).
