Abstract
A study of the climate within the maize-growing areas of the West Rift area of the Kenya Highlands showed that rainfall is the major meteorological variable.A further investigation showed that average yields of maize in subdistricts within the region are markedly affected by changes in seasonal rainfall and are apparently unaffected by large changes in acreage planted from year to year over a period of eleven years.
