Abstract
1. Three experiments were laid down in Northern Scotland to examine the response to nitrogen and suitability for silage production of certain recommended Italian and Westerwolds grasses, some of which were accompanied by barley. In one experiment nitrogen inputs per acre were 122, 232, 342 and 507 units, and in the other two experiments 100, 200, 300 and 400 units.
