2. BCH (alternate spelling–“Bahamian Chili”) was identified by Baltazar et al. as Capsicum chinense (3, 4). Communication with other researchers working with BCH indicate that it is Capsicum annuum. Crosses between BCH and known Capsicum annuum bell pepper cultivars produce highly fertile hybrids. Crosses between C. annuum and C. chinense produce partially fertile hybrids (6). Also, keying out BCH using a diagnostic key of the domesticated Capsicum (2) shows it to be C. annuum.
