Mad Tales of Tollywood : Psychiatry in Bengali Cinema

Abstract

There are reviews about portrayal of Psychiatry in Hollywood and Bollywood movies. Impact of cine media is extremely important in regional movies where actors and actresses are being worshipped as god. Initial stigmatization about madness is gradually changing to some strong social messages. Tollywood or Bengali movies have incorporated the mental illness way back from the era of Satyajit Ray and Riitwik Ghatak.
