Abstract

Aim: Self-sufficiency is the self-perception of the individual. This perception can be coping with various situations and accomplishing an activity. Motivation is one of the most important factors affecting human behavior. The aim of our study was to evaluate the effect of academic self-sufficiency of student nurses on vocational motivation levels. Material and Method: The study was designed as cross-sectional study. Academic self-efficacy scale, motivation resources and problems scale and sociodemographic scale were applied to participants. The data was analyzed with SPSS. Results: 289 people participated in our study. Mean of age was (20.54±2.21 years). The mean of academic self-efficacy was 16.27±3.47. Motivation resources and scale of problems mean was 3.56±0.54. The correlation coefficient between the two scales was r:-0.244. Conclusion: The self-sufficiency score of participants academic was moderate. The academic self-efficacy of nursing students needs to be increased. For this, it is recommended to encourage participation in scientific and social activities. Vocational motivation should be determined especially in the senior students.
