Abstract

We present an overview of the state of knowledge on the Chilopoda of the Hyrcanian ecoregion based on the critical revision of all published records and new data. The fauna under consideration consists of at least 43 species from 16 genera, eight families, and four orders. Lithobius antipai Matic, 1969 is new to the centipede fauna of the Hyrcanian ecoregion. Genus Harpolithobius Verhoeff, 1904, H. anodus (Latzel, 1880), and Lithobius piceus L. Koch, 1862 are new to the fauna of Iran, while L. variegatus (Leach 1814) was excluded from the fauna of this country.
