Strategic leadership practices and their impact on achieving strategic sovereignty A field study in a number of Iraqi universities

Abstract

The research aims to demonstrate the impact of strategic leadership practices in achieving strategic sovereignty, among a selected sample of academic leaders in a number of Iraqi universities. The research problem focused on determining the intellectual and philosophical premises of this perspective at the level of higher education institutions in the Iraqi environment. For the purpose of achieving the objectives and hypotheses of the research, a hypothetical scheme was developed through which the nature of the logical relations between the research variables and its dimensions was determined. The researcher used the descriptive analytical method in order to reach the results, and the questionnaire was a main tool in collecting data and information related to the field aspect of the research. As a number of Iraqi universities were selected (Tikrit University, University of Anbar, Samarra University, Fallujah University) as a field for research through a sample of (204) academic leaders out of the total research community of (432) academic leaders, as the forms valid for statistical analysis were (193) questionnaire forms.The research came out with a set of results that matched its hypotheses, the most important of which were: The achievement of strategic sovereignty in Iraqi universities, the research sample, is closely related to the adoption of strategic leadership practices in academic work. And consequently, strengthening strategic sovereignty in educational institutions will give them a great competitive power that enables them to Dealing with the competitive pressures to which it is exposed by other competing organizations.
