Abstract
A mathematical model for aerobic and anoxic degradation of organic components as well as nitrification in RBC systems is developed and verified against experimental experience after primary, secondary and tertiary treatment. The model considers biomass distribution within the biofilm as well as along a reactor chain. The simulation program is not yet ready for practical application but may well prove to become a design tool in the future.
