Abstract
Electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis was used to demonstrate that granules in Acinetobacter contained in excess of 25 % (m/m) phosphorus with a Ca:P ratio between 0.15 and 0.36. Accumulation was possible under continuous aerobic culture and was enhanced by the presence of fermentation products from raw sewage.
