Abstract
The elimination of organic micropollutants from water and wastewater may be done by separation methods, which are useful to concentrate and relocate pollutants so that they can be more readily recovered or destroyed, or by destruction and detoxification methods by which the pollutants are destroyed and detoxified by the use of oxidation or reduction. Both these principal methods are discussed with a special emphasis on similarities between treatment techniques, prediction methods of removal efficiencies and treatment of priority pollutants.
