Surface waves of the great earthquake of the Queen Charlotte Islands (August 22, 1949) are here discussed, according as their path is a Pacific or a continental one. The results fix the difference and increase somewhat our general knowledge of the crust. A new wave has been found, the theoretical interpretation of which will be a matter for further study.
