Cultural Impact on Human Figure Drawings

Abstract

There has been considerable research to indicate that human figure drawings may be used to predict children's academic and intellectual potential. This instrument was administered to 205 Black children in the Virgin Islands, 266 Black children in Georgia, and 217 White children in Mexico equally distributed among males and females and in grades 2, 4, and 6. Based on selected scoring criteria, both cultural and sex differences occurred. Black children in different cultures differ from each other on this instrument.
