Abstract
The present study was designed to investigate the effect of two independent variables, namely, observing a model share versus not observing a model share and long versus short possession time of the item to be shared, on the sharing behavior of children. Four groups, representing each
possible treatment condition, were formed with 15 five- and six-year-old children in each. The results indicated that both observing a model share and longer ownership of the item facilitated sharing in these children, although the latter was originally hypothesized to retard sharing.
