Abstract
The information age has provided visual art educators with many opportunities to create and share data. With these opportunities also comes the challenge of making sense of an ever-increasing flow of data into our daily personal and professional lives. This essay explores how visual art educators can make sense of data, and how they might use open source tools to aggregate, contextualize, visualize and share data using processes such as content curation, mapping, and visualization. These processes are discussed relative to their integration within art education research and practices to support the development of participatory cultures and the advancement of leadership.
