Abstract
SUMMARY
A parallel-line bioassay for parathyroid hormone in vitro, based on the release of calcium from 6-day-old mouse calvaria maintained in tissue culture has been developed. The method has been compared with the Munson assay, and it offers the advantages of increased sensitivity, a wider dose-range, greater precision, and symmetrical data suitable for easy statistical analysis. The log.-dose response is linear over the range 0·01–1·0 units, and the mean index of precision was 0·15.
